Abbey Alive & Artisan Maker MarketCelebrate the 6As of Blanchland Project

SATURDAY CANCELLED due to weather – currently still happening SUNDAY 24th 10-4

Join us in Blanchland Abbey for our Abbey Alive event celebrating everything the 6As of Blanchland project has achieved this year.

Find out about our ‘treasure’ discoveries and history of the Abbey, see our plans for the future, listen to live music, watch skilled art and maker demonstrations including stained glass, wood carving, textiles, metal embossing and calligraphy.

There will also be the opportunity to learn about and have a go at some of these traditional skills too with:

Saturday: ANH Artisan Furniture Maker, Megan Barnett Stained Glass Artist and Conservator, Kate Hunter Metal Embossing, Chris Bowen Calligraphy.

Sunday: ANH Artisan Furniture Maker, Jenny Hammond Stained Glass Artist, Louise Goult Embroidery & Textile Artist.

Special performance Saturday 2pm by students of Consett Academy who have been working with local singer-songwriter Katie Doherty to produce a song about Blanchland.

Other live music from Julie & William with folk tunes Saturday from 11am, and Allendale Handbell Ringers Sunday from 11am with an opportunity to have a go too.

It’s also the wonderful Christmas Artisan Makers Market with lots of local makers and artisan stalls in the Village Hall and Lord Crewe Gatehouse, so there’s a lot going on across the village this weekend for everyone to enjoy.
