As it’s been a little while since our last community events, we thought it would be good to have some relaxed (free) community evenings in the Village Hall, Long Room (Felons Bar).
A series of 4 evenings – each will be an opportunity to look at a different aspect of the 6As of Blanchland, including the graffiti found in the Abbey, the archaeological excavations, acoustic survey and archives.
There will be a mix of presentations by those who led the projects along with activities for you to take part in while enjoying a cuppa.
So pop the dates in your diaries and complete the booking form so we know which events you would like to come along to (you can come to as many or as few as you want).
Thursday 29th February 6.30pm – 8pm – Archives & Parish Records
During the Covid lockdowns an army of online volunteers helped Dr Sheila Newton transcribe the handwritten records of the parish of Blanchland and Hunstanworth.
Sheila will share the stories of local people this has revealed and how the transcribed archive will become available for genealogists to research family histories.
